Description
Henry Clay is a brand that for many years was an under-performer – a cigar that would sell to your two or three regulars who would grab 2 or 4 at a time and the rest of the box would just sit, collecting dust. One of those people who really enjoyed the brand, Pete Johnson, ended up doing a collaboration with Henry Clay producing the Henry Clay Tattoo.
Showcasing the bolder side of Henry Clay – the Stalk Cut was added to the portfolio and has received a number of awards since, including a 92 rating.
Taking advantage of the stalk cutting process where the tobacco plant is cut near the base, stalk and all, then hung intact to allow the leaves to continue absorbing nutrients providing the leaf with a deeper, more earthy flavor.
Full bodied – this cigar is built with a 2012 Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, a Dominican Piloto binder from 2010 and a mixture of 2012 Dominican Piloto and Olor as well as 2013 Nicaraguan Criollo. This blend produces complex notes of cinnamon, coffee, chocolate, earth, leather and a dash of black pepper.
